Tirumala
Q .: i heard that during nethra darshanam of lord srinivasa in tirumala thiruman s removed frm his forehead....and the way thiruman is removed is hard with sharp items scratching his forehead....i just want to know whether what i heard is true if so...is there no other way to remove thiruman by not hurting him? like something which softens the paccha karpooram so that it cud be removed easily?
Ans .: Its not true what you have heard about the Tirumani of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala temple. From time immemorial the techniques used to either shaping of Tirumani while drawing or cutting of it during the Nethra Darsanam is done with extreme caution and any sort of sharp items are never used while doing so. The Lord, out of immense compassion on all of the devotees of this Kaliyuga, came directly from Sri Vaikuntam, then, we the devotees will always show greatest respect while giving any upacharams, in all the sevas.
Though it is not advisable for Archakas to share all of the things that go on inside the Sanctum, I would like to share this. During the Netra Darsan arrangements, after removing all the Tiru AbharaNams, the Archaka will draw the lines on both the sides of the Tirumani, with a soft broom stick ( That is made soften and given the ritual sprinkling of water, by another Archaka before it is used on Srivaru). The Pachha KArpooram is so delicate that after drawing those lines on both the sides, the Archaka will carefully narrow those lines so as to take the remaining parts on both the sides, so the Lord's eyes will be visible. After that the remainings of Pachha KArpooram is cleaned with a soft Cotton Cloth and then the Punugu Thailam is applied. The entire Upacharam is done with extreme care and by an experienced and blessed Archaka.
Jai Srimannaryana !
