Tirumala Tirupati

Welcome to Adiyen Sri Ramanuja Dasan !

" Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha !"

Ven Pongal: This is made with Rice and Blackgram Dhal and Pepper, lots of Ghee, Cashew nuts are added. Very Delicious and highly filling.

Kadambam: This is otherwise called as ‘Sambar Rice’. In the Sambar, different Vegetables are cut into pieces and boiled along with Tamarind paste. It is then mixed with Rice. For Spicyness Pepper powder is added. In any of the prasadams in Tirumala temple, for spiciness, Pepper alone is used and not Mirchi. Since Mirchi is not prescribed in Agamas and also it is not a crop of Ancient India. In those days, Ancestors were using Jaggery for sweetness and Pepper for Spicy items.

Pulihora: This is made with Rice and Tamarind Paste and to this mixture, Cashew nuts and a little ghee are added. In all of the Prasadams made at Tirumala temple, only Cow Ghee is used even for seasoning and frying and also for lighting lamps. Perhaps Tirumala temple is highest consumer of Cow Ghee in India.

Chakkera Pongal: This is made by mixing Rice with Jaggery Syrup and Ghee, Cashew nuts. Very delicious and it’s a favorite item for many devotees.

After the I Bell, one Archaka will offer Bali Haranam Kainkaryam to Parivara Devathas and the Sri Vaishnavaite’s traditional Sathumorai is performed , many Sri Vaishnavas participate in this Seva, also popularly called as ‘Jeeyar Seva’, Since the Jeeyar Swami, screens the Sri Vaishnavas and allows them to permit in this Seva. As soon as the I Bell is over, All the Prasadams are taken back to ‘Prasadala Patteda’ (the place where devotees get Prasadams after Darsan is named so) by Potu Vaishnavas, and Maatrannam is taken to Sri Ramanuja Sannidhi for offering to him this Prasad. After offering this Maatrannam to Bhashyakar Swami by Vaikhanasa Archaka, only the Sathumorai Seva starts. Infact the Vaikhanasa Archakas, Jeeyar Swami inside the Sanctum, Adhyapakas and the assembled Sri Vaishnavas in the Sayana Mantapam, wait till the Bell Sound of Sri Bhashyakar Sannidhi is heard (which signals that the Maatrannam is offered there by the Vaikhanasa Archaka) before starting the Sathumorai.

Sathumorai Seva is started by the Jeeyar Swami by saying aloudly ‘Sayyikkerula’, then all the assembled Sri Vaishnava Swamins will recite the last two Pasurams of the Tiruppavai.

At this time, three Sri Vaishnavas, who are representatives of Tirumala Nambi (He is Maternal Uncle of Bhagavad Ramanuja and is one of the Acharya Purusha of Tirumala temple. Their Service is to bring Sacred water from Akasa Ganga for Madhyahnika Archana)descendents will bring sacred Theertham from Akasa Ganga in three pots, for use in Madhyahnika Tiruvaradhanam.
