Surya Kathri is a part of Nityakatla and Vishesha Samarpana to lord. Lord always have these weapons with him for "Dusta Shikshana & Sista Rakshana"
This sword is decorated inbetween the lotus feet of moola virat standing Vibrantly till his rib cage
On thrusdays, after sallimpu & Nammam is cut, Lord is decorated with Poolingi Seva. Thrusdays Lord is treated as Narashima, hence on thrusdays Panakam ( Sweet water prepared with jaggery ) is offered to lord in the evenings Naivedyam.
Even after sallimpu, this sword is kept near the katihastham of the lord because Lord is now Ugra Narashima roopam. Hence covering him with flowers will clam his anger.
One more thing i would like to share with you and all, in Tirumala you might have seen Bhoga Sreenivasa murthy.
In Agama, Koutuka is more powerful than all the beras in worship. In tirumala Bhogasreenivasa is Koutuka bera. He is always kept near the Lotus feet of Moolavirat and is in connection with him always. This connection is known as Sambhanda Kroocha. This can be of either Gold, Silver, Dharba or Tulsi. In Tirumala both are always connected with Tulsi.
One might not notice full figure of BhogaSreenivasa while having Darshana. Its because this Bhoga Sreenivasa is kept at 45 degree to the devotee. Since he possesses a prayoga chakra in his hand, ready to strike.
All the power of tirumala is in that Tiny one foot Silver idol of Lord Venkateshwara called as Bhoga Srinivasa.
The moolavirat is only for people (I mean to say mainly) who seek to attain the bliss of freedom from Janma samsara bhandam thru a eye opener called Gyanaodhayam, which will ultimately show you the path of spiritual life.
Utsava Murthy, Malayappa is for Enjoying the Rajayogam. You can see 2 white umbrellas carried in each utsavam of lord around mada streets. Swetha Chatri is a symbol of Chakravathy (King of Kings). Here Lord Malayappa has 2 Swetha Chatri for him showing he is the Chakravarthy of Chakravathy's.
Ans .: Lord Venkateswara/Lord Vishnu has Panchayudhams Chakram (Sudarsana), Sankham (Panchajanyam), Mace/Gadha (Koumodaki), Dhanussu (Sarngam) and Nandakam or Sword. For Lord Venkateswara this Nandaka is known as 'Surya Katari' as it was donated by Surya Bhagavan to Venkateswara. It is believed that the Saintly Composer Annamacharya is an incarnation of Nandakam.
There is no special, about adorning this Surya Katari, in between the feet, at the centre of the Mulavirat's idol. Its just to let every devotee to have the darsan of this Sword as well.
