99. Q .: I heard that when Lord has come to Bhooloka to take care of us, it is our responsibility to take care of him and do all the sevas and kainkaryams properly to Him and protect Him aswell from bad things happening directly or indirectly to Him or His temples. When all the temples everywhere including the Srirangam temple is closed at 9 or 10 pm and reopened for darshan in the morning with the intention of giving rest to the Lord, why cant that happen in Tirumala Temple. Many people come with an argument that He is the Lord and there is no need of rest to Srinivasa. But when he came here for us as Archamurthi, we have to take care of Him and as part of that we should also give give rest of atleast 4 to 5 hours a day, and not just 1 hour what he is getting now for name sake. Heavy rush is another reason but these important things should not be taken lightly and Lord should get proper rest and timings should be followed strictly? Dont you think so?
Ans .: I request all of u to keep onething in mind when ever we talk about temples, insist on indian timing conventions like ghadiya, vigadiya, jamu etc. Dont get confused with English or GMT timings like 12 AM is arda raathri or so.
But for now, keep in mind that the Tirumala Temple from time immemorial follows the Indian or Hindu or Agamic Timing tradition which I will explain in detail. Also according to Vaikhanasa Scriptures In Tirumala Temple, shatkaala aradhana is followed. It means the aradhana is performed 6 times a day.
pratyUshO prAtahkAlascha madhyAnascha apaRahnaka:
sAyankAlo ardharAtrischa pujA kAlantu shadvidaha ||
This is a verse from Bhrigu's Vaikhanasa Text. So according to this,there are 6 times a day, aradhana is offered to Lord viz.,
pratyusha - early in the morning,
pratahkalam - at sunrise,
madhyahna - afternoon,
aparahna - in the sandhi time when sunsets,
sayankala - at the time of sunset,
ardarathri - end of day.
So accordingly the aradhana is followed 6 times a day which is uttamottama in aradhana.
100. Q .: I read in one of the newspapers that Suprabhatam has been written by Sri Annan, Student of Sri Ramanujacharya. Is this true? Why the suprabhatam starts with "Kausalya Supraja Rama". I mean to say that the Lord at the temple is Vishnu and why only Lord Rama's name is been taken at starting. Is there any reason.
Ans .: Suprabhatam is written by Sri Prativadi Bhayankaram annan, a disciple of Sri Varavara Muni, an Acharya in the lineage of Bhagavad Ramanuja. As Varavar Muni is his Acharya, Sri PB Annan makes references to him in suprabhAtam. You can see this at two places in the suprabhAtam, about which I will write separately. KausalyA suprajA rAma is a Sloka from Sri Ramayana, as sage ViSwAmitra wakes up Lord Rama = Vishnu = Venkateswara. The succeeding Slokas are by Sri PB Annan.
There is no connection between Bedi Anjaneya swamy temple and suprabhAtam.
