Tirumala Tirupati

Welcome to Adiyen Sri Ramanuja Dasan !

" Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha !"

43. Q .: (1) Please explain us in detail about gaddam bottu. and that cowbar is hung in the mahadwram for the darshnam of all devotees. please explain us in more details about it, when it happened, and about the person who hit the lord.

Ans .: For all those who dont know abt Gaddam Bottu, It is the white spot in the chin of Lord Venkateswara, where a little bit of refined camphor is used to keep this.
Yes Gaddam Bottu is kept on the chin of the idol of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala Hills. And the story abt this as explained by Niranjan is correct. It could have happened in the time of Sage Ramanuja. Daily during Suprabhatham this Gaddam Bottu is kept and during the night Kainkaryam or night Thomala Seva this is removed and again is kept at the time of Ekantha Seva before closing the doors. This is done so that the wound is healed. And every Friday after Abhishekam there will be no Gaddam Bottu thru out the day till Ekantha Seva.

(2) I heard about the lords forehead has a scar of a arrow shot by Thondamaiah in a battle for power between padmavathi's brother and Thondamaiah. does the moola virata vigraha has a same scar of the arrow wound?

Ans .: BTW there is no scar or any other marks indicating wound on the idol of Lord Balaji. It is neat and clean. I'm posting the image of idol of Lord Venkateswara which is kept at my Home for daily Puja in my albums.
Closely observe this Lord Venkateswara's idol, it is the exact replica of the idol at Tirumala. Both front side and back side it looks same as in this tiny 1 feet Panchaloha idol.

(3) I have visited shilathoranam many times. please tell us any legend behind it.

Ans .: Silathoranam is said to be as old as Lord Varaha Swamy, as we r into Swetha Varaha Kalpam, this is as old as Swetha Varaha Kalpam.

44. Q .: i had attended abhishekam last december i saw a thin wet namam after we were let for darshnam. it was still wet and was partially dried. i could see the nijapadam and the face clearly.

Ans .: What u saw in Nijapada Darsan is a blue print for main namam means the outline that is drawn using refined camphor will form the base. Using that outline finely powdered camphor, a pinch of it is taken and sprinkled on that outline, this process continues till a 2 inches layer of namam is formed(powdered camphor has the quality of sticking when pressed slightly on stone surfaces). Then in the middle a thin line is drawn and the Kasthuri is placed then.
