40. Q .: (1) The crown's the lord wears, on different days, what is the special about them, who has presented to the lord,
Ans .: There are 5 crowns used for Lord Balaji at Tirumala Temple.
1.The crown given by Akasa Raja which u can see in TTD calendars is a popular one. It is the earliest of all the crowns and is used to Lord Venkateswara from time immemorial. This will be used most of the days in a year and is a part of normal Alankaram called 'Nithyakatla Samarpana'.
2. The Diamond crown which is used to adorn on very special occasions called 'Vishesha Samarpana', like Deepavali Asthanam, Ugadi Asthanam, Anivara Asthanam, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Jan 1st, Brahmotsavams, Pavithrotsavams, Jyeshtabhishekam, Pushpa Yagam, Pournami Garuda Seva etc., It is madw by the TTD Administration itself in the year 1991. And it costed around 7 crores at that time. Several Diamonds were used which are the best ones from Belgium.
3. The crown given by Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipathi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati Swami recently as part of a owe he took. It is tall, wide and in the centre it has a beautiful flower design. Very good crown. It is also used as part of normal Alankaram.
4. The crown named Surajmal Kireetam which is made by TTD. Another crown that has exquisite carving and many uncut diamonds, invaluable Emeralds and other stones which are collected from the offerings by devotees thru Hundi, is used to make this crown. named after the worker 'Surajmal' this is really has a good art and the main attraction is in the centre, where a design of Raising Sun with uncut white diamonds, is carved finely. Now a days this is not used frequently. Basically it was made when there was no Diamond rown, it has been used in the place of Diamond crown for 'Vishesha Samarpana'. It has been kept aside once the Diamond crown is ready. But in recent times it is again in use once in two months.
5. The crown given by Venkateswara Hatcharies in memory of Y.V.Rao, Which is similar to Akasa Raja crown but in the centre it has a big covering witha nice design and it can be changed with two other coverings which are part of the crown.
(2) Please explain the jewels decorated to the lord after the abhishekam one after the other in sequence
Ans .: There are several Jewels used every Friday to adorn to Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
First the deity of Lord Balaji is given Tilak on the forehead by sprinkling a little amount of camphor on a previously drawn border. It is sprinkled continuously till it sticks on the forehead and very delicately pressed with palms and afterwards the shape of namam is adjusted perfectly and then the Kasthuri Tilak is worn.
Now the Silk Vasthram called Melchat Vasthram of length 24 yards is adorned to the deity. Now the sada Vaddanam is tied in the stomach area and then Nagabharana Vaddanam, Then Kali Andelu is tied, Vanki Kammi is tied afterwards, Now the sword named 'SuryaKatari is placed in the centre of two legs vertically and is tied. Now a silk pillow is placed on the chest and tied. Now Dasavathara Vaddanam is adorned, then the Melchat Uttareeya Vasthram of 12 yards is placed on the chest then Katari Vasthram is adorned to hold the sword firmly. Chinna Kantabharanam and Pedda
Kantabharanam is then adorned. Then Swarna Yagnopaveetham, Astottara Haram, Employees Chain, Aswatha Patakam, Puligoru Patakam, Tulasipathra Haram, Chaturbhuja Lakshmi Haram, Sahasranama Haram is adorned. Nagabharanas on the shoulders with kanti is adorned then. Vaikunta Hastham and Kati Hastham along with Swarna Kankanams for both the hand are adorned then. Karna Pathrams on both the ears are placed. A jewel named Tirukkolam is placed above the forehead(above the namam) and then the Crown. Then finally the divine ornaments Srivatsam and Kausthubham.
