Q .: Today is Nammalwar's nakshatram. (Vaikasi Vishakam day). I am not sure of there is any special events in Tirumala. I request Swami Ramakrishnagaru to let us know if there is any celebration regarding this day.
Ans .: In Tirumala Hill Shrine, only the Tirunakshatrams of Ramanujacharya, Ananthalwan, Tirumala Nambi (the last two are Great Acharya Purushas of the Tirumala temple) are celebrated. There will be no celebrations regarding the other 11 Alwars (excepting Goddess Godadevi), since there is no shrine inside the temple or any where else at Tirumala. The same will be celebrated in the Govindaraja Shrine, where there is almost all Sannidhi's of Alwars present.
Q .: i heard recently in an upanyasa that inside the garba griha there is a vigraha of markandeya.i dont kno wether it is true. pls clarify my doubt .
Ans .: There is no idol of Sage Markandeya inside the sanctum of Tirumala temple. But some Vaikhanasa texts presecribe to offer Worship to Sage Bhrigu and Sage Markandeya along with Lord Srinivasa.
Q. : Swamy koncham PURUSHA SUKTAM yokkka vishitata chepthara....
Ans. : Among the great Gods of Vedas is Purusha, which in simple translation means the “male”. But the word actually indicates Lord Vishnu, who is the Supreme God among the great trinity, in charge of the care of the created beings. He is supposed to live in the ocean of milk and his consort is Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Possibly along with Rudra it is one of the greatest stotras originating from the Vedas. While the devotees of Rudra are afraid of his anger and request Him again and again, the devotees of Purusha keep praising him, describing his various facets and request boons from him. Though the original Purusha suktha manthra occurs in Rig Veda , it also occurs in Vajasaneya Samhitha of Shukla Yajur Veda, Taittireeya Samhitha of Krishna Yajurveda and also with slight differences in Sama Veda as well as Atharva Veda. Many great sages have given details of how this great Suktha should be used in Fire Sacrifices and many sages including the great Sayanacharya have written commentaries on Purusha Suktham.
Purusha in this Suktham is described as a gigantic personality who is spread everywhere. Brahma the creator is supposed to have his huge body as a sacrifice so that he can create the world.
